Bake-Off Winner Announced!

Sausage Rolls

Peace Weekend sausage rolls take the gold

A big thank you, to all of our supporters who entered the ‘SASRA VE Day Big Bake Off’, and for sending in pictures of your wartime recipes, as found in the free SASRA VE Day Pack. Despite the national celebrations being cancelled due to Lock-down, in true ‘Blitz’ spirit many of you ‘carried on regardless’ and celebrated in your gardens and homes, baking and reproducing  the culinary delights of that first VE Day, seventy- five years ago!

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the ‘SASRA VE Day Big Bake Off’  is:

Mrs H, from Hayes in Middlesex

Congratulations!

A leather-bound edition of our latest book ‘SASRA in World War II’ is on its way to you.

This picture of Mrs H’s sausage rolls is truly delightful – Well done!

I am sure they were as tasty as they looked, and with a bit more meat in the sausage than the wartime rationing of 1945!

Mrs H remarked,  ‘they were a big hit in our household, and we shall be making them again.’
