Funeral of Helen Black

The funeral of Helen Black will take place on Thursday 9 June in Aldershot. For details of the funeral, please contact admin@sasra.org.uk.

Helen worked as a Pay Clerk in the Women’s Royal Army Corps before joining the SASRA Headquarters team, where she divided her time between SASRA and MDSH. She was secretary to Captain May and later Brian Henagulph and John Diaper before serving as the Member’s Secretary for over thirty years.

Many veterans recall the tremendous support that Helen provided and speak fondly of the letters that she used to send them. She had a heart for military personnel and their families; she worked closely with Army wives and during the Falklands War, provided a holiday camp in Kent for soldiers’ families.
