New President

On 1 August, Major General Dan Reeve MC became SASRA President, following on from Major General (Retired) Rob Thomson CBE DSO who retired from the post that he had held since 2020.

General Dan has been a SASRA serving member for many years, is a former Council member and was a Vice President until he took on the President’s role, for which we are very grateful. Therefore, he knows the Association very well indeed and from his recent appointment at the Ministry of Defence in London, he will be able to provide the crucial ambassadorial role, promoting our work where appropriate and sharing the benefits of the gospel in the spiritual welfare that we provide to our soldiers, aviators and their families.

Until his move to the Ministry of Defence, General Dan had been the General Officer Commanding 1st (UK) Division, having previously commanded the 6th (United Kingdom) Division, 77th Brigade and 3rd Battalion the Rifles. General Dan was Chief Joint Force Operations from 2021 to 2023, commanding the Joint Task Forces that deployed to Turkey and Sudan.

His staff appointments have included: Military Assistant to the Chief of the General Staff; Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Operations in the United Kingdom’s Permanent Joint Headquarters; and Chief of Staff to No 10 Downing Street’s Executive Director for Communications. He has served on operational deployments in Europe, Southeast Asia, North and East Africa, and the Middle East. He was awarded the Military Cross in 2011.

Please have General Dan in your prayers for his new military appointment and for his role as our President.
