By Andrew McMahon, Regional Manager North

On Saturday 18 November, Scripture Reader Dave Hossack and Regional Manager Andrew McMahon presented at the annual SASRA Life “Behind the Wire” event in Harrogate. Woodfield Gospel Hall hosted the occasion, with Alan and Elizabeth Green advertising, planning, preparing and coordinating the event.

A selection of SASRA shop merchandise, free literature and refreshments were offered during the afternoon. Hymns, prayer, and a short message based on Psalm 90 were offered, in addition to the reports by both Regional Manager and Scripture Reader.

Also in attendance was the Rev John Walden, the SASRA Advocate for Starbeck Mission, RAF veteran, and active SASRA Representative in the Harrogate area. He had recently received his Nuclear Testing Medal, the receipt of which was acknowledged during the event and a round of applause accompanied the announcement. It was wonderful to acknowledge, even briefly, the service of a consistent and enthusiastic supporter and his notable military achievements for our country.

The event was well received, with representation from several churches in the Harrogate area. The Leeds Representative, Mr Paul Crossley, himself an RAF veteran, and currently the Chairman for Leeds City Mission, was in attendance with his wife Christine. It is always encouraging when people travel a significant distance to hear of the work of evangelism and to support SASRA events. Most encouraging were those who stepped forward to Advocate for SASRA in their churches.
