Raising Funds to Mark a Milestone

We are always grateful for the creative and generous ways our supporters stand with us as an organisation. A special thanks this week goes to John and Dianne Lodge who used the occasion of their 60th Wedding Anniversary to raise funds for SASRA’s vital ministry.

John and Dianne share with us:

‘On Saturday 22 August we held a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate our 60 years of marriage.  This took place at Hayes Town Chapel where we first met as young people, our wedding was also held there, and we have been members in the church since.

The congregation of about 120, plus many on the livestream, was made up of family, relatives, friends, and neighbours, including our best man and three of our bridesmaids. Our three children and eight grandchildren all took part in various ways.

We give thanks for God’s goodness over the years and knowing the kindness and generosity of those present, we decided that any gifts could go to a good cause, which we chose to be SASRA.

Our recently retired pastor, Andrew Hill, brought God’s Word from Hebrews 6:9, ‘Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation’, the verse that was preached on at our wedding 60 years ago. In addition, from his time as Executive Director at SASRA, Andrew was able to give a clear summary of SASRA’s work for the benefit of any not familiar with the organisation. The collection on the day came to over £700 and we know that others have contributed directly to SASRA by bank transfer since.

We give thanks to God and trust that the Soldiers’ and Aviators’ Scripture Readers Association will continue to expand and bear fruit to His glory.
