ASR Gavin Dickson moves to Colchester Garrison

ASR Gavin Dickson standing by sign for Merville Barracks

In December, ASR Gavin Dickson and his family moved from Edinburgh down to Colchester Garrison, to continue the work following the departure of ASR Lee McDade.

Gavin is working predominantly at Merville Barracks, which is the base for many units including 2 and 3 PARA, Artillery, Medics, Signallers, Logisticians, as well as 16 Brigade Headquarters.

He also visits Wattisham Flying Station, home of the 3 Regiment Army Air Corps and 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, and MoD Woodbridge which includes Woodbridge Airfield and Rock Barracks – home of the 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment.

We’re very grateful for our move from Edinburgh to Colchester and we’re settling in well.

Colchester is home of the 16 Air Assault Brigade, a High Readiness Brigade where men and women can go out the door and provide military assistance wherever they’re needed in the world.

I’ve been able to go into camps and meet soldiers, the Chain of Command, the welfare teams and the Chaplaincy team. It’s been great to spend my first day in camp with the Chaplains and I’ve been warmly embraced and welcomed.

There is a great need here for Scripture Readers. Colchester Garrison is a big place. At Merville Barracks, there is a huge number of soldiers, ranging from parachute soldiers to engineers, artillery to musicians.
