Connecting to the Work in London

By David Malam, Regional Manager South

For the third year running, SASRA was invited to have a stall at ‘REVIVE’, an annual event for the Co-Mission family of churches in London. This year we were particularly blessed to have several SASRA folk attending during the weekend, including Laura (our Prayer Coordinator), her husband Jacob (a soldier based in London) and Scripture Reader Josh Fortune.

Josh spoke about his journey to faith and the opportunities that SASRA now affords him at Hyde Park Barracks.

For us, the highlight of the weekend was a seminar that Josh gave on the Saturday afternoon in one of the main meeting venues. There was a succession of seminars and talks given over the weekend in the venue, where a couple of rows of chairs were usually sufficient to accommodate those attending. For Josh’s talk, ‘Three Years at War: God’s Faithfulness in the Fires of Combat’, about 120 individuals of all ages attended, with people literally spilling out of the marquee. Josh spoke animatedly about his story and his journey to faith and the opportunities that SASRA now affords him at Hyde Park Barracks.

My highlight of REVIVE was the SASRA seminar by Josh Fortune.

It provided a great opportunity for us to give out Ready magazines and SASRA leaflets and to speak to young and old about our work. Our stand included a map of London showing the military bases and people were invited to locate their Co-Mission church with a sticker, to see how close they are to military locations. We hope that to host another seminar next year.
