This year, SASRA is entering a four-man team into the Paras’10 challenge.

What is Paras'10?

Open to the public, The Paras’10 is based on the ten-mile march from the Regiment’s ‘P Company Test Week’, which happens at the end of training. Recruits are assessed and scored across several events, the first of which is a ten-mile march over undulating terrain with each recruit carrying a bergen weighing 35lbs plus water and a weapon. To successfully complete the march, recruits must finish in 1 hour 50 minutes.

The PARAS'10 Ultimate Endurance Race includes water obstacles.

Who is on the Team?

  • Scripture Reader Gavin Dickson (left), based at Colchester
  • Scripture Readers Dave Hossack (left middle) and Johnny Crawford (right), both based at Catterick
  • Regional Manager North Andy McMahon (right middle).

All of them formerly served in the infantry and they range in age from 42 to 65. Each team member will carry 35lbs (plus water and gospel literature!) ten miles across the tracks and hills of the Catterick Garrison training area on Saturday 26 September.

Why are they doing it?

SASRA will compete to raise awareness, prayer and sponsorship for their ministry; declaring the good news of Jesus as Saviour amongst the men and women of the Armed Forces.
