This month, many of our Scripture Readers were involved alongside Chaplaincy in military Remembrance services. The season of Remembrance provides opportunities for our Scripture Readers to offer a listening ear for those who are struggling as they remember those they served with who are no longer here. Remembrance is a time to commemorate the fallen but also a time to offer hope to those who serve today.
I helped to plan the Remembrance Day service on camp. Around 200 were present, both civilian and military. After some good conversations I plan to visit these workers in the coming weeks and offer spiritual support and times of prayer where I can.

I was able to do a scripture reading at the Armistice Day service at the station.

Praise God for a lovely Remembrance Day service, which seventy-five attended. I helped to prepare the church and welcomed people as they arrived.

It was an incredible privilege to be asked to cover for the Padre in leading the Remembrance Day service on camp. I was quite nervous about getting the timings right, particularly when we started the service a couple of minutes before I had planned. The Lord was incredibly gracious, and everything went smoothly. I was able to draw parallels between the sacrifice of those that laid down their lives for the country to secure peace for a generation to the Saviour who laid down His life to secure peace for all eternity. A Christian soldier remarked afterwards that it was wonderful to hear the gospel publicly proclaimed to the regiment. I’m grateful for the many doors that the Lord keeps opening and the ongoing relationships that are being built. Please pray for more opportunities to come as a result.

I assisted the Chaplain at the Armistice Day service on camp. There were around 300 people present.

I’m grateful for the successful events over Remembrance, including a Remembrance Parade at the Military Corrective Training Centre. Around 150 military and civilian staff attended. It was a traditional service with a short message on John 15:13.
